Why tyres wear out faster here

Abu Dhabi is hard on rubber. Road surface temperatures in summer are far higher than the air temperature, long highway runs between emirates keep tyres hot for hours, and sand and grit wear the tread. Under-inflated tyres suffer most, because they flex more and build up heat.

As a rule of thumb, check your pressure when the tyres are cold, at least once a month, and look at the tread and sidewalls each time you do. Cracks, bulges, uneven wear and tyres that are many years old all deserve a second opinion, even if the tread still looks deep.
