First: what to do when you get a flat

If you notice a sudden pull, a thumping sound or a pressure warning, do not brake hard. Ease off the accelerator, hold the steering steady and move to a safe spot, ideally off the carriageway and away from fast traffic.

  • Switch on your hazard lights.
  • Avoid driving far on a flat tyre. Even a short distance can destroy the sidewall, which turns a simple repair into a replacement.
  • If it is safe, take a photo of the tyre and the damage.
  • Then contact us. If you can reach the shop, we will see you there. If not, WhatsApp your location and we will talk through the mobile option.

Can your tyre be repaired?

Not every puncture can be fixed, and a responsible shop will tell you when it cannot. As a rule of thumb, a repair is possible when:

  • The damage is a small hole, typically from a nail or screw, in the central tread area.
  • The tyre has not been driven flat for any distance.
  • The tyre is not worn down to its limit.

A repair is generally not suitable when the damage is in the sidewall or shoulder, when the hole is large, when there are several punctures too close together, or when the tyre has been run flat and the internal structure is damaged. Those cases need a new tyre. Safety comes first, and a weak patch at highway speed is not worth the risk.

How a proper repair is done

A good repair is more than plugging the hole from outside. The tyre should come off the rim so it can be checked from the inside.

  1. Find the leak. We locate the puncture and mark it.
  2. Remove the tyre from the rim and inspect the inside for hidden damage, which is often where a driven-on flat shows up.
  3. Prepare and repair the injury from the inside so the hole is properly sealed.
  4. Refit, inflate and balance. The wheel goes back on balanced, with the right pressure.
  5. Leak check. We check the valve and bead too, since slow leaks are not always from the tread.

Slow leaks and pressure that keeps dropping

Not every puncture is a dramatic flat. If one tyre needs air every week, there is likely a slow leak. Common causes are a small nail in the tread, a faulty valve, a corroded rim edge, or a bead that is not sealing properly.

In the UAE heat, tyre pressure also rises and falls with temperature. A tyre that looks low in the cool morning may be fine by afternoon. That is why it is worth checking pressure cold and noticing a pattern. If one tyre keeps losing more than the others, bring it in and we will find out why.

Why punctures happen more often here than you think

Construction sites, road works and new developments mean debris on the road is a real hazard around Abu Dhabi. Screws, nails and metal offcuts are common, especially on roads near building areas. Sharp stones and sand-covered edges can also nick sidewalls.

Underinflated tyres run hotter and flex more, which makes them more likely to fail. Keeping pressures right, looking over your tyres when you wash the car, and checking the spare are small habits that reduce your risk.

Mobile puncture repair

If you are stuck at home, at work or somewhere you cannot drive, ask about our mobile tyre service. We do not promise exact coverage areas or timings in advance, because they depend on where you are and what the tyre needs. The quickest way to find out is to WhatsApp us your location, a photo of the tyre and your car model.

For complicated damage that needs the tyre off the rim, we may suggest bringing it to the shop instead.

Balance, check and move on

After a repair we recommend having the wheel balanced, since removing and refitting a tyre can shift the weight. If the damage points to a worn tyre or poor alignment, we will say so. Our free safety check is also a good moment to look at your other three tyres and the spare while the car is with us.

If the tyre cannot be repaired, we can talk through replacements. We stock all sizes and major brands, but stock changes, so call to check before you visit. See our tyres page for brands and sizes.

Frequently asked questions

Can a punctured tyre always be repaired?

No. Small holes in the central tread are often repairable. Sidewall damage, large holes, or a tyre that has been driven flat usually cannot be repaired safely and needs replacing. We will inspect it and tell you honestly.

Is it safe to drive on a flat tyre to the shop?

It is best not to. Even a short drive on a flat can damage the tyre structure beyond repair and may harm the rim. If you must move the car, go slowly and as little as possible, or contact us about mobile help.

Do you offer mobile puncture repair in Abu Dhabi?

Yes, we offer mobile tyre service. WhatsApp your location, a photo of the tyre and your car model, and we will tell you what is possible. We do not promise coverage or timings in advance.

Should I balance the wheel after a puncture repair?

As a rule of thumb, yes. Taking the tyre off and refitting it can change the wheel balance, and balancing helps avoid vibration at highway speed.

Why does my tyre keep losing air with no visible hole?

A slow leak can come from a tiny puncture, a faulty valve, a rim edge that is corroded or a bead not sealing properly. Bring it in and we will check each possible source.
