Why tyre fitting matters in the UAE

Tyres are the only part of the car touching the road, and in the UAE they work hard. Surface temperatures in summer climb well above the air temperature, highway speeds are high, and many of us drive long distances between emirates. A poorly fitted tyre can wear unevenly, vibrate, or in the worst case lose pressure at the wrong moment.

Good tyre fitting means the tyre sits correctly on the rim, the valve is sound, the wheel is balanced and the pressure matches what your car's manufacturer recommends. It sounds simple, and it is, but only when each step is done carefully.

Signs you need a tyre change

  • Low tread. If the tread has worn down to the small wear bars in the grooves, the tyre is at the end of its life.
  • Cracks or bulges. Fine cracks in the sidewall are common on older tyres in hot climates. A bulge is more serious and means the tyre should not be driven on.
  • Age. Even with decent tread, rubber hardens with time. Ten years is a commonly quoted limit, so check the DOT date code.
  • Repeated punctures. If the same tyre keeps going flat, ask us whether repair still makes sense.
  • Uneven wear or vibration. This may be a tyre issue or a sign you need alignment or balancing.

How a tyre change works, step by step

  1. Confirm the size and choice. We check the size on your sidewall and talk through the options in that size. See our tyres page for brands.
  2. Wheels off. The car is lifted and the wheels removed. If you have locking wheel nuts, hand us the key.
  3. Old tyre off. The tyre comes off the rim, and the rim and valve are looked over for damage or corrosion.
  4. New tyre on. The new tyre is fitted and inflated so it seats properly on the rim.
  5. Balance. The wheel is balanced so it spins without wobble.
  6. Refit and pressure. The wheels go back on, the nuts are tightened, and the pressure is set to your car's recommended figure.

We do not promise a fixed time, because it depends on the car and how many tyres you are changing. Ask when you call and we will tell you how busy we are.

Nitrogen inflation for your tyres

Nitrogen for tyres is a popular add-on in the UAE, and we offer it at the shop. Here is what it is and what to expect, honestly.

Ordinary air is already about 78 percent nitrogen. Nitrogen inflation means filling the tyre with nitrogen at a much higher concentration, usually 90 percent or more.

  • Slower pressure loss. Nitrogen molecules are slightly larger than oxygen, so they escape through rubber more slowly. Pressure tends to hold more steadily between checks.
  • Less moisture. Nitrogen used for filling is dry, so there is less water vapour inside the tyre. That helps pressure stay more stable as the tyre heats up.
  • Less oxidation inside. With less oxygen, there is less ageing of the inner rubber and less chance of corrosion on steel parts.

It is not magic. You still need to check your pressure now and then, and it does not make a worn tyre safe. Think of it as a useful extra for drivers who do a lot of highway driving or who forget to check pressures. If you top up later with ordinary air, nothing dangerous happens; you simply dilute the nitrogen.

Want nitrogen? Mention it when you call us on 050 019 0193 or WhatsApp us, and we will add it to your visit.

Your free safety check

Kayan Plus offers a free safety check. Ask for it with your tyre change, or on its own if you are not buying tyres. It is a quick look over the things that affect your safety on the road, and there is no obligation to buy anything afterwards.

Here is what is worth having looked at:

  • Tread depth across the tyre, not just the middle.
  • Uneven wear that suggests alignment or balance problems.
  • Sidewall cracks, bulges or cuts.
  • Tyre pressure compared with the recommended figure for your car.
  • Valve condition and signs of slow leaks.
  • Age of the tyres from the DOT code.

If something needs attention, we will explain it plainly and you decide what to do. If everything looks fine, you drive away knowing that.

What to know before you come

  • Bring your locking wheel nut key if your wheels have one.
  • Know your tyre size or send us a photo of the sidewall in advance.
  • Tell us if you want nitrogen, balancing or alignment at the same visit.
  • Mention if your car has a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), as the sensors need care during fitting.
  • Do not forget the spare. It ages too, and a flat spare is no help on the hard shoulder.

Finishing work late? We are open until midnight most days, so you can stop by in the evening. Check the exact hours on the contact page.

Frequently asked questions

Is the safety check really free?

Yes. We offer a free safety check with your tyre change, and you can also ask for one without buying tyres. We look at tread, wear patterns, sidewalls, pressure and valves, then tell you plainly what we find.

Does nitrogen make tyres last longer?

Nitrogen helps tyres hold pressure more steadily and reduces moisture inside, but it does not stop tread from wearing. You still need to check pressure now and then. It is a useful extra, not a replacement for good tyre care.

Can I mix nitrogen and normal air?

Yes. Topping up a nitrogen-filled tyre with ordinary air is safe. You just lower the nitrogen concentration, so you lose some of the benefit. If you want to keep it, come back to us to top up.

Do I have to change all four tyres?

Not always. Many drivers replace in pairs on the same axle, and some four-wheel-drive cars need all four to match. Tell us your car model and we will advise what makes sense.

Can you fit tyres I bought elsewhere?

Please call or WhatsApp 050 019 0193 and tell us what you have. We can discuss fitting, but we suggest checking the size and DOT date code of any tyre before you buy it.

How do I know my tyre size?

Read the code on the tyre sidewall, for example 225/65 R17. Send us a photo on WhatsApp if you are unsure, and we will read it for you and check stock.
